John Elliott Theatre 2008-2009 Concert Series
Single tickets for the 2008-2009 John Elliott Theatre Concert Series go on sale on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. This exciting series contains something for everyone and offers the best in live music and dance to the Halton Hills Community.
The Concert Series includes:
Singer-songwriter Gayle Ackroyd performing songs from her new CD on October 4. Lily Frost will be performing her "Lily Swings" concert featuring songs made famous by Billie Holiday on October 16. The Arrogant Worms bring their infectious comedy songs to the JET on November 30. Ontario Ballet Theatre returns to perform The Nutcracker on December 5 and 6. The Intrada Brass of Oakville will be showcasing their new Christmas CD for their concert on December 12. DK Ibomeka sings smooth jazz and blues on January 24. Individual soloists and award-winning guitar players Oscar Lopez and James Keelaghan perform as Compadres on February 23. Njacko Backo creates a fantastic world beat sound on March 14, and accomplished singer-songwriter Tannis Slimmon finishes the season with her concert on April 4.
The JET is also excited to announce that it will be presenting the original adaptation, "Tales of Hans Christian Andersen" for children on December 29 and 30 for two performances per day.
Subscription and group discounts are available from the JET box office only, but single tickets will be available online at www.haltonhills.ca/theatre on September 2 as well.
Effective September 2, the box office hours at the John Elliott Theatre will be Tuesday through Thursday from 2pm to 6pm and Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 5pm, with extended hours for performances. The box office can be reached at 905-877-3700.
Free Concerts Continue at the Cultural Centre Gallery
The John Elliott Theatre and Cultural Centre is continuing the Music At One free concert series on the second Wednesday of every month in 2008. The upcoming free concerts include: Local singer Nonie Crete on September 10. Guitarist Ken Aldcroft and Drummer Dave Clark perform the works of Thelonius Monk in Hat & Beard on October 8. Halton Allegro Academy of Music's Allegro Guitar Orchestra on November 12. And piano virtuoso Hyuntak Lee returns to the Gallery to perform solo on December 10. All shows start at 1pm and run for about an hour. Admission to the Gallery shows is free and tickets are not required.
