The Friends of the Halton Hills Public Library will be holding their bargain book sales in June starting in Acton on Saturday June 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Acton Branch, 17 River St., and then moving to Georgetown on Saturday June 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Georgetown Branch, 9 Church St.  There will be lots of great books, videos, cds and magazines.  The money raised previously has been used to purchase a child-sized and equipped computer station, a lovely wooden table for the history section, furniture for the teen areas, display cases, plus a book talk by Lawrence Hill in March.  Info:  905-873-2450

St. John's United Church, Georgetown, and United Way of Halton Hills will be hosting the Golf United Charity Golf Tournament with the theme, Old Pros.  The organizing committee is encouraging players to come dressed in their "plus fours" attire, or bring along some golf equipment from days gone by!  The event will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, and teams will play with a Scramble format. Wendi and Hugh Hunter host Acoustic Jam, a group of acoustic music players and singers. Acton and Glen Williams communities host Canada celebrations.  Canada Day at The Glen is a Halton Hills tradition.  Enjoy or join the parade and events all day.  While there, bring your kids and drop by the St. John's United Church fish pond...just one of many things to enjoy at the Canada Day Celebrations in the Glen.  St. Alban the Martyr Anglican Church, 537 Main Street Glen Williams will host a chicken BBQ and fireworks. 

Meanwhile, downtown Acton celebrates Canada Day at Prospect Park with its annual Concert in the Park.  Starting at 6 p.m. until dusk, local performers will be featured followed by the fireworks display put on by the Acton Firefighters Association.
